Some aspiring minds got together and got an old version of Squeezecenter server for the Squeezebox line of products working on the Buffalo NAS. Would be great if Buffalo could make it inherent in the firmware. Maybe a partnership with Logitech? Could open up a whole new market for Buffalo if Logitech recommended the Buffalo NAS as the partner product for Squeezecenter.

On the good side. Torrent client is working very stable and fast for me. I give 10 point for that. Repost from regular forums
Now not so good.
I like and use bt very much. But one that is installed on my Ls-VL is pretty lame. Why can't we have option to install full version of it? I see many options other than BT that I dont need at all though. Like backup for example.
With more downloads it is very hard to keep everything organized ,when there are no possibility to make folders inside bt folder. If I move files outside BT folder -seeding is interrupted and I get ban from my provider very soon. To have multiple copies of multiple files instead is also not a nice option for me. I already have problems finding what I need among hundreds of files.
Also not having possibility to select what files to download when starting torrent is also very bad.
My PC version of same client has all those options and makes client much more valuable.
One more problem - it is not possible to use BT if accessed from iPad. All fields are messed up and nothing works as intended.
Anybody have solutions for those problems ?
uTorrent has the ability to add an RSS feed, which it automatically downloads all new items from.
Buffalo haven't updated the firmware on the linkstation duo to allow this, I would love the feature so hopefully they update it soon!
binary newsgroup downloading with NZBget
People are running NZBget on the old NSLU2 as it uses very little system resources so it should run on every Linkstation.
"
NZBGet is a command-line based binary newsgrabber for nzb files, written in C++. It supports client/server mode, automatic par-check/-repair and web-interface (via additional package). NZBGet requires low system resources and runs great on routers, NAS-devices and media players."
NZBget and NZB-web-interface so you don't have to do command line.

Hi,
for business users I believe it is a must to have Auto power on when AC power is restored.
(TS-RIXL)
Even if the Terastation is connected to the UPS device or not - this option should exist.
We wanted to buy around 10 units more (for all our dealerships) but lacking of this option still makes us debate... :(
Regards,
Bobby
Please can I have firmware updated to include SBS 7.7.1 as my Logitech Squeezebox Touch requires it.! (Please can Buffalo update users on when SBS 7.7.1 will be available for its already supported squeeze server enable nas devices. Cheers Shaz
Already looking at which other Nas to use as can't be spending my life cancelling auto upgrade to 7.5 (which is a downgrade) when I connect to my buffalo. Pls cheers thanks
other SBS supported nas devices at at least 7.6.1 or higher e.g ReadyNas. (Looks like I will be getting a Readynas v2 if no upgrade is soon available!)
Specifically with the LS-WXL it would be great to use private tracker torrents. A large majority of bittorrent users don't use open public trackers, and not being able to use private ones pretty much renders the uTorrent client useless on my NAS.
Hi All! on Tera standalone NAS It would be wonderful to be able to have a user have a "default directory" when logging in via FTP or SFTP Protocol. Typically allowed by stand alone server software.
I am allowing specific people to connect via SFTP protocol, and they really need to be dropped in a defaul directory (that is of course allowed by their security). While you can manually navagate there (or set defaults using Filezilla or WinSCP) this person is using an app to deliver some data, and its having a problem handling a long file name to place it in a specific place.
Just a thought, would really really be useful for business. Thanks!
This is something I've been missing from the day one which was sometime about 5 years ago with my first HD-HLAN. This kind of an option is just crucial in all AirStations and it would be priceless in LinkStations too.
Dear Sirs,
it's not possible to update Squeezbox 7.5 to 7.7.1 so we need a new firmware (maybe with autoupdate).
Squeezebox is worthless in older versions, cause all radios will ask to downgrade if linked to server and upgrade if linked to mysqueezebox.com.... so you have to decide what to use...
what a shame :-(
Time Machine stores the delta's for files which means that eventually the space consumed in a Time Machine sparebundle will be larger than the actual size of the hard drive it's backing up. This is fine, except my LS-XHL does not limit this size so Time Machine consumes all of my available space on delta's. You might say this is a Time Machine problem and not a LS-XHL problem, however Time Machine will delete delta's and backups if it reaches the limit with no space left. Problem is that this is the entire NAS available storage and setting a quota on the volume only results in Time Machine failing to backup rather than deleting old delta's.
I've tried all kind's UNIX commands to limit this myself with no avail, i'm now reaching out to you Buffalo, please help!!!
So the idea is to allow the administrator to set the size of the Time Machine backup. I can see that QNAP NAS supports this:

I'd like to lobby for an explicit shutdown feature for the LS-WXL series linkstation. I've had to do some maintenence shutdowns and it give me the willies to just turn off power - there has to be a more graceful way. Under "Maintenance", there is an option via the web interface to "reboot" the LS-WXL Linkstation - that involves shutting down (gracefully) and restarting. It seems that it wouldn't be that much of an issue to add a explicit "Shutdown" feature to remotely (via the web interface) shut down the linkstation.
